Winning Entry:  The Peffer Family

The dad of the Smithens family, James, is a small-business owner who runs his business out of his home. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis with their pastor, Fr. Joseph, and helping out around their church doing odd jobs. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and is the youngest of seven children.

The mom, Marie, is the Director of Religious Education at the parish and home-schools her children. She enjoys getting together with other home schooling moms. She grew up in Jamestown, New York, and is the middle of three children.

The brother, David, is involved with the Cub Scout troop at the church and is a Wolf Cub. He also plays baseball and is on a team called the Saints. He is in the third grade, and his favorite subject is Science. His best friend is his dog, Sammy.

The sister, Mary Kate, takes lessons in gymnastics and is preparing to receive her First Communion. She is in second grade and enjoys various activities such as reading and playing with her brothers and sister. Her best friend is her cousin, Anna.

The toddler, Monica, is involved in Baby Jesus' pre-school program at Holy Family Church. She adores her 'big sissy' and follows Mary Kate everywhere. She enjoys entertaining her little brother. She loves to draw her daddy pictures of their family.

The baby, Daniel, is a happy one-year-old who is the pride and joy of the family. He enjoys playing and sucking on his blocks, and listening to nursery rhyme tapes. He is often found in Mother Mary's nursery at their parish, when his mom comes to work.

They love to vacation at Catholic Familyland in Bloomingdale, Ohio.

Question 3: Where do they live?

The Noel's live in Popeville. It is peaceful, green, quiet and small (population 2,500).  You can hear the church bells ringing throughout the town.  In the summer, the temperature is 80 degrees. In the winter, the temperature is in the 40's.  It rains once about every two weeks.  Therefore, the grass is lush and green.  Most of the town is Catholic.  Church is always crowded and full of life.
